Here are just a few hints on how you can make the most from your photo shoot.
Colours
Try to have your family wear similar colours (ie various shades of blues). This creates a homogenous effect that looks a million bucks.
Stripes
Be careful that family members don't wear patterns that clash - ie vertical stripes vs checks or green vs orange
Favourite Objects
Think about a favourite object that your child may have (ie a teddy bear or children's book). For adults a tool of their trade or a favourite novel can help tell a story about the subject.
Garden Feature
If I am doing the photos in your garden, look for a feature ie old gnarled gum tree or special garden seat
Sunset
The best to for light is around sunset as the light is not as harsh. Noon can be used if there is a tree that gives solid shade. link to sunset times
Young Children
Try to book a time after thier normal sleep time. Be sure they have had something to eat.

Preserving your Prints
Be sure to keep your photos out of the sunlight. UV light is the real killer of prints. If you hang them on the wall, look for where the morning and evening sunlight hits the walls
